A Connecticut man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed a 19-year-old woman and his 2-year-old son to death inside a West Haven apartment late Saturday.
Neighbors called 911 to report hearing screaming and yelling coming from an apartment in the 400 block of Meloy Road just before 9 p.m.
Witnesses told officers the suspect jumped through a second-floor glass window into the walkway leading to the victims’ apartment.
Police arrested the suspect, who was suffering from unspecified injuries, at the scene and transported him to a local hospital for treatment.
The two victims were reportedly found stabbed to death inside the apartment. Investigators confirmed the suspect is the slain toddler’s father.
“We are very saddened about this tragic event and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased,” said Sgt. Scott Allard.
“If you hear something, somebody screaming for help, definitely take it seriously and call the police.”
