NJ man killed after exiting moving vehicle on expressway; getting hit by ‘multiple vehicles’

A New Jersey man was fatally struck by “multiple vehicles” after exiting a moving car on the Garden State Parkway in Middletown Township Friday evening.

State Police said the 33-year-old man was traveling in a Honda Pilot when he stepped out of the moving vehicle near milepost 112.8 in the parkway’s southbound express lanes.

    The man, later identified as Jose Cerda-Estevez, succumbed to his injuries. Investigators are trying to determine why he left the vehicle while in motion.

    Police are asking anyone with information about the vehicles involved in the fatal crash to call the Troop “D” Holmdel Station Detective Bureau at 732-441-4500 ext. 7417.
