A fatal shooting at a Texas USPS facility has claimed a man’s life at the hands of his co-worker Monday night, police said.
Officers with the Missouri City Police Department responded to the South Houston Processing facility shortly before 10 p.m.
Kevin J. Hines was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect “matching the description provided by multiple callers” was arrested.
Authorities later identified the suspect as Derrick Lott. He and the victim were reportedly co-workers.
“Part of our partnership with the [Missouri City Police Department] is not only conduct a very thorough investigation, but make sure we protect the community at large, as well as our employees,” said Dana Carter, with the US Postal Inspection Service Houston Division.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear. Lott has been charged with murder.
