A Utah woman suffered severe burns after a man doused her with gasoline and set her on fire Friday, police in Ogden said.
Officers found the woman screaming in the street with extensive burns on her face, chest, shoulder, and arm at around 2 a.m.
“Based on the extent of the victim’s injuries, it appeared that the burning had caused serious bodily injury…that would likely result in serious permanent disfigurement,” an affidavit said.
The victim told detectives that Gregory Youngblood attacked her when she refused to share a ride offered by a third person with him.
She said that even after he set her ablaze, the 57-year-old threw her on the ground and tried to strangle her before fleeing through a back door.
Youngblood was arrested Friday evening in Riverdale and booked into the Weber County jail.
