A beloved New Jersey teacher was found dead in his submerged car and pulled out of the Passaic River Tuesday.
Brain Kolakowski, 37, went missing on Dec. 4 but was two days later caught on scanning security footage driving his Volkswagen Jetta down a boat ramp into the river.
Recovery efforts lasted several days due to “adverse weather conditions and poor underwater visibility,” authorities said.
“At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that this incident was the result of any criminal act, nor is there any indication of a threat to the public safety,”
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Mr. Brian Kolakowski.”
Kolakowski was a beloved teacher and tennis coach. Harrison Public Schools mourned his loss in a letter shared with parents.
