A Houston student was fatally struck by a train on his way to school early Monday morning, authorities said.

Sergio Rodriguez, 15, was a Milby High School sophomore and a payer of Varsity football.

He was fatally struck just after 7:30 a.m. while trying to cross in front of an oncoming Union Pacific train.

Investigators said the teen crossed the railroad tracks at a non-designated area. Several students witnessed the tragedy.

Grieving friends created a makeshift memorial for the late teen near the scene of the crash.

“Every time I come to school, I’m gonna start to come over here, just sit right here for a little bit to talk to him, just talk it up lie I used to with him. Just after that, go to school. I say, ‘Love you’ and go to school,” one said.
