Man killed, 6 juveniles wounded in bonfire shooting in Alabama

A man is dead and six juveniles are wounded after a shooting at a bonfire in south Alabama, police said Saturday.

Gunfire erupted in the area of Bellingrath Road and Laurendine Road in Mobile just before 11 p.m., authorities said.

A man was confirmed dead while two juveniles were rushed to a hospital and four others arrived at area hospitals seeking treatment by personal vehicles.

“The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time,” said Mobile Police Public Information Officer Blake Brown.

    The injured victims ranged in age from 13 to 16 years old. Brown revealed the shooting stemmed from a disagreement.

    “Our understanding is there was some sort of party. Some bonfire gathering last night behind that business at that intersection, and it somehow got out of hand,”

    “There was some sort of disagreement, dozens of people there ranging from adults to juveniles, and of course that led to the incident last night.”
