Texas teen, 18, charged in stabbings of 3 officers during attempted arrest

Authorities in San Juan, Texas have charged an 18-year-old accused of stabbing three officers during an attempted arrest late Tuesday.

Enrique Martin Ayala, 18, was charged with one count of assault, three charges of criminal attempt capital murder, one charge of aggravated robbery, and one count of resisting arrest.

Ayala’s mother called 911 at around 7 p.m. to report that he assaulted her sending officers to their home at the 400 block of Cancun Lane.

  • The officers were trying to make an arrest when Ayala slipped from their grip and armed himself with a kitchen knife, stabbing three officers.

    Ayala fled the scene triggering an hour-long manhunt that ended when he tried to carjack a family, armed with another knife.

    Officers located him hiding near an area house and apprehended him without further incidents.

    The injured officers were hospitalized at McAllen Medical where they were listed in stable condition.
