The charges against an Indiana couple accused of killing and burning their children in a backyard firepit were dropped this week for the lack of evidence.
Steven Valle, 31, and Samantha Sebella, 25, were taken into custody in September 2024 after Valle allegedly admitted to friends that he killed two children and burned their bodies in the backyard of his residence.
Investigators combed the Wheatfield home where the couple used to live and found human remains and bone fragments that were identified as human.
While initially claiming that he and Sebella only had a living child and never had miscarriages or stillbirths, Valle then confessed that he buried the remains of two children who died just after birth.
“You killed my kids 'cause you are a f*****, you never loved me,” Sebella allegedly wrote to Valle in a text message.
“You killed our babies, I have there DNA in my body forever.”
On Wednesday, a judge dismissed the allegations against the couple without prejudice because there was “no evidence that a crime occurred.”
“We do intend to seek justice in this matter,” Jasper County Prosecutor Jacob Taulman said hoping to refile the case once anthropology experts end their work.
