A medical transport plane carrying a child, her mother, and four other passengers crashed into a Philadelphia residential neighborhood shortly after taking off late Friday.
Jet Rescue Air Ambulance said that all people aboard Learjet 55 were from Mexico. The crew was carrying a child patient to Tijuana after she received treatment at a Philadelphia hospital.
The plane exploded into a fireball engulfing several buildings in flames. It was not immediately clear if anyone on the ground was hurt.
“We cannot confirm any survivors,” JRAA said in a statement.
Jet Rescue is based in Mexico and the plane is registered in Mexico. Spokesperson Shai Gold said the crew is seasoned and had undergone rigorous training.
“When an incident like this happens, it’s shocking and surprising. All of the aircraft are maintained, not a penny is spared because we know our mission is so critical,” Gold said.
