Washington news, US news.

President-elect Donald Trump picked his son-in-law Jared Kushner’s father Charles Kushner for ambassador to France, triggering a wave of criticism on social media.

“I am pleased to nominate Charles Kushner, of New Jersey, to serve as the US Ambassador to France. He is a tremendous business leader, philanthropist, & dealmaker, who will be a strong advocate representing our Country and its interest,” Trump posted on Truth Social Saturday.

Back in 2005, Charles Kushner was convicted of tax evasion and witness tampering and sentenced to two years in prison.

“Together, we will strengthen America’s partnership with France, our oldest Ally, & one of our greatest!” Trump added.

Social media users expressed their frustration over Charles Kushner’s nomination, citing his criminal past.

“Seems that having a criminal record is a prerequisite to work for Trump. Imagine how cons would scream if Joe appointed his son to ANYTHING,” one wrote.

“Jesus, this administration is looking more like a penitentiary,” another commented.
