An Indiana boy is behind bars facing murder charges after he allegedly shot his friend to death before reporting the incident as a suicide.
Greenwood Police responded to reports of a suicide attempt shortly after midnight on November 10.
Upon arrival, officers located 13-year-old James Davis suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The boy was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition. He died shortly later.
Investigators said that Davis, his alleged killer, and four other boys were at the home of one of them when the incident took place.
The child’s parents were reportedly sleeping and did not witness the shooting.
It remains unclear whether they owned the crime weapon, but they are not facing charges currently.
Prosecutors are filing murder and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon charges against one of the juveniles.
