Amazon delivery driver kills elderly woman in hit-and-run crash; goes on with his route delivering packages

A Georgia grandmother was killed in a hit-and-run crash involving an Amazon driver last week, police said.

On Nov. 12, 79-year-old Sandra Fitts died instantly after being struck by a Rivian Delivery vehicle while crossing Cumming Highway on her way back from a nearby cemetery.

  • Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said, adding that the vehicle sustained damage consistent with the crash.

    “The investigation revealed that the Amazon truck in question was the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.”

    Police arrested 25-year-old London Rozier Best on one count each of vehicular homicide, and hit-and-run resulting in death.

    “It’s a very unfortunate situation. It appears that he knows what happened, and he actually continued to deliver packages in the area,” Capt. Jay Baker said.
