An Indiana man was arrested this week after he allegedly beat his girlfriend’s toddler to death while on drugs.
Ricky Larkin, 32, claimed to be Je’Loni Smith’s father when first responders found the 2-year-old not breathing in a bathtub on Nov. 4.
Larkin who was not the child’s father claimed the victim drowned after slipping and hitting his head. The child’s mother was hospitalized for a drug overdose at the time.
But when confronted with autopsy results, the man admitted that the death was a homicide.
He reportedly told detectives the toddler’s death was “karma” for all of the “dirt” he had done in his life.
Larkin has been charged with one count of murder. A metal bat suspected to be involved in the murder was recovered from the messy scene.
