Man shoots ex’s parents as they helped her move out of his home killing mother; critically wounding dad

An Iowa man is accused of killing the mother of his ex-girlfriend and critically wounding her father after they tried to help the woman move out of his home.

Polk County deputies responded to the shooting at a Des Moines home at around 5 p.m. Friday.

24-year-old Hamza Smajlovic allegedly shot Ruth and Tony Robinson in the head as they helped their daughter move out of his home.

    Smajlovic is also accused of trying to shoot his ex-girlfriend who was still inside the home.

    Investigators said he and the daughter had recently broken up and the woman was trying to leave the home they shared.

    Smajlovic now faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and intimidation with a weapon.
