McCourt reportedly crossed the southbound lanes before getting struck by a Volkswagen. It remains unclear whether he was also attempting to grab the fallen bills.
“I think that’s crazy, is there more money to be found?” a local said. “It’s totally not worth getting out of your car to grab cash.”
Another added: “The economy is tough right now, free cash. I don’t blame anybody for picking it up though.”
