Democrats started an early bickering over what caused Kamala Harris’ humiliating defeat in the 2024 presidential election.
Former Democratic National Committee official Lindy Li was among many who blamed Harris’ running-mate pick for the excruciating loss.
“People are wondering tonight what would have happened had [Pennsylvania Gov. Josh] Shapiro been on the ticket. And not only in terms of Pennsylvania,” she said.
Li argued that choosing Shapiro would have proved Harris wasn’t as depicted by Donald Trump, a “San Francisco liberal.”
“But she went with someone actually to her Left. In the eyes of the American people, Walz was the governor who oversaw the [Kenosha] protests.”
NBC Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker suggested Biden should have dropped out much earlier to allow Harris more time to establish herself as the Democratic candidate.
“Because of course, there was so much discussion, even over the summer, about potentially having an open primary and having that fight play out within the Democratic Party.”
MSNBC Analyst Joy Reid blamed white women's weak participation, falsely claiming black voters supported Harris.
“In the end, they didn’t make their numbers. We have to be blunt about why, black voters came through for Harris, white women voters did not.”
Exit polls showed that black voters turned to Trump with about 13 percent compared to just eight percent four years ago.
