New York City news, New York news.

The victim of a deadly Brooklyn crash was identified as a former acting captain for the Genovese gang, officials said.

86-year-old Anthony Conigliaro, known as “Tony Cakes”, was killed in a gruesome crash while crossing a Brooklyn street on June 12.

Chilling surveillance footage caught the moment a city Department of Transportation truck hit the elderly man as he crossed Dahlgren Place against a “don’t walk” sign in a marked crosswalk.

“[Conigliaro] spent his life looking over his shoulder but forgot to look both ways before crossing the street,” a police source commented.

Conigliaro had long abandoned his gang life and started a new life in a small Bay Ridge area apartment where neighbors had no idea of his past mafia connection.

“We miss him. Everybody misses him,” one said.
