A Chicago mother was found dead, strangled in a rented garage on Monday, police said.
Sierra Jamison, 30, was brutally killed before she was discovered by her mother around an hour after her death.
Police arrested 63-year-old Lawrence Curtis Boyle and charged him with first-degree murder two days after Jamison’s slaying.
“This is someone she was comfortable around,” Jamison’s mother said. “This is someone she trusted so she had no reason to fear.”
Last month, Jamison spoke out on news about violence against Black women citing an attempted armed carjacking that she experienced. She also mentioned her 6-year-old son.
“I know how many sacrifices I’ve done for my family, my son, because he’s been through a lot,” she said.
“My son had open heart surgery, he has a disability, so he means a lot to me. And, I’m not going to let this young man [the carjacker], with a knife at that, take anything I work hard away from me.”
