An Israeli embassy staffer and his soon-to-be fiancée were shot dead outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC, early Thursday morning.
Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were gunned down by 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez, who shouted “Free Palestine” as he was taken into custody.
The incident occurred during a Young Diplomats event held at the museum.
Lischinsky worked as a research assistant for Middle East & North African Affairs at the Embassy’s Political Department.
Milgrim was employed in the embassy's public diplomacy department. They were set to engage in Jerusalem next week.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced increased security measures at Israeli diplomatic missions worldwide in the aftermath of the attack.
