A 5-year-old Indiana girl, her mother, and her grandmother were killed in a tragic incident involving a train in Ohio, authorities said.
The victims’ bodies were pulled from the Sandusky River by Monday afternoon; a 14-month-old girl survived the ordeal but is listed in critical condition.
Investigators said 34-year-old O Ny Zar, her 50-year-old mother, Ram Masan, and two daughters were walking on a bridge above the river when an oncoming train emerged.
Police have yet to determine whether the family members were actually struck by the train or jumped into the river to avoid the crash.
“This is a very, very unfortunate tragedy that has hit our community,” said Mayor Danny Sanchez.
Sanchez said that “no trespassing” signs are posted on the bridge. The incident remains under investigation.
