Alabama woman charged after crash kills unrestrained child

An Alabama woman was charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 5-year-old on Tuesday evening.

Cheryl Lynn, 30, veered off the road in Mobile County while driving a 2011 Honda Accord on U.S. Route 45 and hit a tree just before 9:20 p.m.

Lynn’s passengers included a 1-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 7-year-old.

  • The 5-year-old was killed in the crash. Police said the child was not restrained at the time.

    The driver and the two other children were rushed to a hospital. Lynn was arrested on Wednesday and charged with reckless manslaughter.

    She was booked into the Metro Jail in Mobile. Her bond is set at $100,000.
