A Michigan mother was arrested for allegedly abandoning her three children in a filthy home while she enjoyed a kid-free life for years.
Officers conducting a welfare check in February rescued the three children, ages 15, 13, and 12, from the feces and trash-filled Pontiac home.
“I’ve never smelled a home that smelled that bad without a decomposing body present,” Oakland County Sheriff’s Det. John Brish said.
The kids were reportedly sleeping on pizza boxes with the older boy having a hard time walking difficultly due to long toenails.
Kelli Bryant, 34, allegedly admitted to abandoning her kids for years while she enjoyed hair and nail care appointments.
“I hurt my children. I sacrificed my children, probably,” she reportedly said.
“She knew that her actions were selfish, that’s her wording, and that it made her children sick, and that she had ultimately sacrificed her children for her own purposes,” Brish added.
