Autistic, nonverbal toddler dies at Missouri daycare

Authorities in Park Hills, Missouri, are investigating after an autistic toddler died at a daycare on Friday.

The 3-year-old boy died at Poppy’s Playhouse. His family identified him as Conrad David Wade Ashcraft.

Lacey Hardy, the boy’s aunt, said that he was nonverbal, calling his death “a horrific, callous, negligent, and senseless act that never should have happened.”

  • “This purposeful depravity, that caused the death of an innocent 3-year-old, has created so much unbearable heartache, devastation, and crushing pain for our families,” Hardy said.

    “No family should ever have to endure this type of pain.”

    The St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death.
