Two students were found dead in a dorm at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Monday evening, police said.
The students were identified as Kelsie Martin and Hallie Helms, both 22.
Police were called to a “situation” in Wilgus Hall at around 4 p.m.
Investigators said that there was no ongoing threat to students, calling the incident “isolated.”
“It’s just a really sad and just sad to think about the families that are affected by this and people that were their friends and stuff that I guess that are students just like me that are changed now,” a sophomore witness said.
UW-Platteville Chancellor Tammy Evetovich insisted in a press conference that students’ well-being was a priority.
“We are focused on you. We understand that you have a lot of questions. And we will answer what we can, but we want to focus on our students that are impacted and support them in ways that only people at camps can do.”
