Suspect dead after shooting 3 officers in east LA neighborhood

The gunman accused of shooting three officers in east Los Angeles Wednesday evening was found dead following a standoff, authorities said.

The suspect opened fire at the officers at around 6:30 p.m. as they looked for a fugitive parolee in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood near the intersection of Mission Road and Broadway.

    The LAPD said that one of the officers was shot in the stomach while the others were struck to their extremities. All three were listed in stable condition.

    The gunman was found dead at around 9:30 p.m. after a standoff with police. It was not immediately clear whether he was shot by officers.
