Authorities in New York are investigating a homicide after the body of a 58-year-old man was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside a Bronx apartment earlier this week.
The decomposing body of Jose Burgos, 58, was found inside his apartment on Elsmere Place near Southern Boulevard in West Farms.

He was lying facedown with apparent trauma and stab wounds. His body was covered in a blanket.
The neighbor who called 911 to report a foul odor said that Burgos was a panhandler.
“He lived here with his girlfriend, but I haven’t seen her in a month. The smell was horrible, horrible like a dead animal. I called 911,” he said.
