President Donald Trump said Friday that Iran has the capabilities to launch a nuclear war within just “weeks.”
“It is a tremendous amount of material, and I think within a matter of weeks or certainly within a matter of months, they will be able to have a nuclear weapon, and we can’t let that happen,” he said.
Trump made the remarks as he departed for his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club.
He admitted that Iran had a “maximum” of a fortnight to counter US air strikes but insisted that he was “ready and willing” to join in the conflict after the countdown.
“I’m giving them a period of time, and I would say two weeks would be the maximum,” Trump told reporters.
“We’ll see what happens, time to see whether or not people come to their senses.”
