Man wanted for killing mom, stepfather in Arizona, fatally shot by Missouri state troopers

An Arizona man wanted for the murder of his mother and stepdad was fatally shot by police in Missouri.

Officers with the Snowflake-Taylor Police Department found the two victims dead from apparent gunshot wounds Sunday night while conducting a welfare check.

The victims were identified as Cynthia Templeton, 53, and Troy Templeton, 62. They were members of the civilian law enforcement auxiliary, the Arizona Rangers.

Cynthia’s 23-year-old, Francis Alcantar Chavez, was identified as a person of interest in the murders.

  • Authorities issued a “stop and hold” order for Chavez and his vehicle. On Tuesday, he was found in Concordia, Missouri.

    The suspect reportedly engaged police in two pursuits before he “eventually ran into a trooper’s vehicle.”

    “Troopers gave chase on foot, at which time, Francis, armed with a handgun, shot at one of the troopers, striking him in the bullet-resistant vest.”

    Chavez was eventually shot dead by troopers, officials said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
