Southwest Airlines’ passengers saw their flights canceled or delayed since Friday night as company officials cited air traffic control and bad weather.
The Federal Aviation Administration’s handling of air traffic management programs coupled with challenging weather conditions led to at least 1,800 cancellations, the company explained.
“We are working hard behind the scenes to minimize challenges and fully recover the operations as we take care of displaced crews and customers as quickly as possible,” the statement added.
“ATC issues and disruptive weather have resulted in a high volume of cancellations throughout the weekend while we work to recover our operation.”
“We appreciate your patience as we accommodate affected Customers and Customer service wait times are longer than usual.”
