Arkansas man tells cops he was ‘just walking dogs’ dragged behind his SUV

An Arkansas dog owner was arrested on animal cruelty charges after being spotted dragging two pets behind his SUV on Thursday.

Leonardo Barboza, 49-year-old, told Officer Ricardo Rojo who spotted the incident while filling out a separate report for another motorist and pulled over the suspect’s car.

  • The incident occurred at around 7:10 p.m. local time, Rojo said. The dogs, including a husky, were dragged behind the SUV by a rope and were clearly in distress.

    The animal sustained severe injuries to the paws. Barboza reportedly claimed that he was just “walking them.”

    He was arrested and booked into jail before posting a $1,500 bond. The dogs were recovered by animal control authorities.
