Ohio authorities are investigating a double homicide that took place around a campsite where a couple was spending their vacation.
The family of the victims reported them missing earlier this month after losing contact with them for a few weeks.
Even though they did not know exactly when the man and woman left their Pickaway County home for the trip, they informed police that they were planning to camp in the Equine Area of the Appalachian Hills Wildlife preserve.
When police arrived at the site, they “felt something was just not right” prompting a further search.
The bodies of the missing couple were located in separate spots across the wooded area surrounding the campsite.
Detectives seized the victims’ vehicle and trailer for investigation. A suspect, later identified as 43-year-old Brian Jason Weimert, was arrested and charged with aggravated murder.
