Mystery as remains of missing Windsor couple found in remote area after leaving home for July 4th trip

Wisconsin authorities announced Friday that human remains believed to be a missing Windsor couple have been located in a Dane County remote area.

Bart and Krista Halderson’s son reported them missing earlier this week after they failed to return home from their July 4th trip to a Langlade County cabin.

The 23-year-old, identified as Chandler Halderson, was later arrested and charged with providing a false report in a kidnapping investigation.

  • Authorities declined to detail why they suspected Chandler lied about his parents’ disappearance citing the ongoing investigation.

    The couple’s son had claimed that they’ve been traveling with another couple without identifying them.

    He reported him missing days later when a relative called to tell him that his parents never arrived at the cabin.

    The remains are being positively identified with police urging anyone with information to call them at 608-284-6900.
