According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, a 77-year-old serial killer had died of natural causes early Saturday.
Rodney Alcala died at a hospital at around 1:43 a.m. His death was natural authorities said.
The serial killer who was convicted and sentenced to death for killing four women and a 12-year-old boy back in the 70s had admitted to having slaughtered many others.
His crimes took place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New Hampshire, and Arizona. Detectives are still trying to identify some of them through photographs taken by the killer himself.
Alcala was also known for making a TV show appearance on The Dating Game in 1978. At the time, he had already killed four women.
Cheryl Bradshaw who was a contestant in the show along with the serial murderer told news outlets that “something was off” about him.
“I started to feel ill,” Bradshaw recalled. “He was acting really creepy. I turned down his offer. I didn’t want to see him again.”
