The California serial murderer convicted of perpetrating a killing spree against San Francisco white residents was found dead in prison Wednesday.
Jessie Lee Cooks, 76, passed away at a State Medical Facility. His official cause of death has yet to be determined.
Cooks, Manuel More, J.C.X. Simon and Larry C. Green killed at least 14 people and wounded many others between 1973 and 1974.
Victims included a woman who had been beheaded, an 81-year-old man, and Art Agnos, who survived injuries to become San Francisco mayor.
The search for the suspects prompted a citywide questioning of nearly all Black young men between 20 and 30.
With Cooks’ passing, all perpetrators have died but Larry C. Green, 69, who remains held at California’s Prison-Solano, Vacaville.
