The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation said that an inmate at Lucas County jail has hung himself Friday afternoon.
The death of the 36-year-old inmate is being investigated as a suicide after correctional officers found him hanging in his cell.
The prison guards knew that the unidentified inmate was a risk to himself and kept checking his cell every 10 minutes.
At around 4:28 p.m., he was found unresponsive. Officers notified jail officials and medical staff. Toledo Fire Rescue members also joined the life-saving measures.
The man couldn’t be revived and was pronounced dead at 4:58 p.m.
Authorities declined to reveal the decedent’s identity pending next-of-kin notification. He was booked into prison on July 9.
