A New Jersey grandma and her infant granddaughter have perished in a consuming house fire that sent a part of the roof down on them early Friday morning.
The woman, in her 40s, was according to sources trying to save her grandchildren at around 3:40 a.m. from the blazing Hamilton Township home.
Sadly, the grandmother died along with a 10-month-old girl. Three other family members were hospitalized.
Firefighters said that extinguishing the flames was made harder due to rainy weather. The fire partially damaged a nearby residence.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and Hamilton Police Division have asked anyone with information regarding the deadly fire’s cause to call them at 609-989-6406.
