Mom brings dying toddler to hospital after covering bruises with tattoos

Maine news, US news.

The mom of a 3-year-old toddler who was pronounced dead Sunday from horrific injuries to his entire body had reportedly tried to cover the wounds with tattoos.

Jessica Trefthen then told doctors and later detectives that Maddox Williams was knocked down by a dog and kicked by his older sister.

When her claims did not convince suspecting officials, Trefthen and her mother added that the boy had fallen from a trampoline days earlier and that he “bruised very easily and her kids play wild and crazy.”

The victim sustained “multiple blunt force trauma” to the legs, abdomen, and head causing tissue bruising, internal bleeding, ruptured bowel, fractured spine, and brain hemorrhage.

X-rays confirmed that the boy had missing teeth adding to bruised lips. The mom-of-3 was arrested and charged with depraved indifference murder.
