Carjacker fleeing at 97mph runs red light, collides with vehicle carrying mom & 2 teens, killing them on scene

Arizona authorities have arrested a carjacker who killed a mom and her two teen children while fleeing the crime scene Thursday.

The tragic crash that involved several trucks and a pedestrian at around 3:47 p.m. was triggered by Raymond Montgomery, 33, who stole a 2010 Cadillac SRX and ran a red light driving at 97 mph, police said.

At the intersection of 7th Avenue and Missouri Avenue, Montgomery collided with a Honda Civic carrying Courtney Lonergan, 45, and her children, Ali and Almira Geer aged 18 and 16 respectively.

    In addition to the three fatalities, the multi-vehicle collision left four people injured including a father and child.

    “During the course of this investigation, it was learned that the Cadillac was traveling approximately 97 miles per hour seconds before the collision, and about 78 miles per hour immediately prior to the impact,” police said.

    Montgomery was charged with three counts of first-degree murder, one count of robbery, and theft of means of transportation, in addition to seven counts of endangerment.
