Michigan lottery winner found dead in river, more than a decade after he appeared in Lottery Changed My Life

3years ago

Midland news, Michigan news.

A dead body floating in Tittabawassee River Saturday was positively identified as an Auburn man who won $2 million in the lottery back in 2010.

Leroy N. Fick, 69, once appeared on TLC’s Lottery Changed My Life but it turned out that the change was not to the best.

After pocketing the sum, Fick spent it on getting a new home and car. Within two years, the money had gone.

“The whole thing just blew up in my face. I thought people would love me if I helped them out some,” he told the judge. “I had the wrong idea, I guess. They all turned on me and that was it.”

Police did not immediately release a cause of death but said that foul play is not suspected.
