Los Angeles news, California news.

An unfortunate California woman showed up at a Los Angeles store Wednesday claiming that she had purchased a winning lottery ticket six months ago but destroyed it in the laundry.

The unidentified woman had only one day left to claim her $26 million prizes after she alleged being the one who bought the winning SuperLotto Plus ticket at Arco AM-PM.

  • She said that she had put the ticket in her pocket and forgot about it. Her only proof is surveillance footage from the store.

But Lottery spokesperson Cathy Johnson doubts it would be sufficient to prove the woman’s claims asserting that a photo of the front and back of the ticket is required in such cases.

If unclaimed, the money will be donated to the state’s public schools.
