Cleveland news, Ohio news.

Ohioans got a chance to win $1million in prize or four-year scholarships (for minors) if they received the Covid vaccine and won the draw.

Governor Mike DeWine said that his state is ready to give away millions of dollars in a lottery to encourage people to get vaccinated, with one winner weekly, for five weeks.

“Two weeks from tonight on May 26th, we will announce a winner of a separate drawing for adults who have received at least their first dose of the vaccine.”

The prizes will be funded by federal coronavirus relief funds, according to DeWine, who acknowledged some would find the “Ohio Vax-a-million” plan inappropriate.

“I know that some may say, ‘DeWine, you’re crazy! This million-dollar drawing idea of yours is a waste of money.’ But truly, the real waste at this point in the pandemic – when the vaccine is readily available to anyone who wants it – is a life lost to Covid-19.”
