A West Side teen has been fatally shot Thursday afternoon as his family loaded belongings to a U-Haul truck moving to a safer area.
The mother of 14-year-old Tyrese Taylor had decided to move her family somewhere outside Lawndale after realizing her youngest son was in danger.
But a white vehicle approached the U-Haul truck at around 1:45 p.m. and gunned down Taylor on the sidewalk, shooting him multiple times.
“He was a good kid,” a neighbor said. “Sometimes he got mixed up with the wrong crowd, but he was a good kid.”
Dorothy Taylor described her late nephew as the “baby” of a large family of eight siblings who loved to game on the Xbox.
The Chicago Police Department has yet to name a suspect in the deadly shooting.
