Delaware authorities said that an overnight hangout among five friends turned deadly Wednesday when one of them grabbed a knife and stabbed the group.
After they watched TV and played video games until around 4:30 a.m., an argument erupted and the suspect “became enraged and began attacking the other occupants with a knife.”
“At some point during the altercation, one of the stabbing victims retrieved a shotgun and shot the male subject in the leg,” police said.
The attacker, identified as a 37-year-old Maryland man, passed away at a hospital, hours later.
Detectives are investigating whether drug use was involved in the gruesome attack. Two of the injured victims were from Maryland and aged 34 and 53 years old.
They sustained non-life-threatening injuries with the older being released after treatment.
The two others, Hartly residents, suffered life-threatening injuries and were only identified as 30 and 56 years old.
