Neighbors of a Queens family were left in disbelief after a 28-year-old man strangled his mom to death early Saturday inside their home.
Saroj Sharma, 65, was unresponsive at her home on Winchester Boulevard when police responded at around 8:40 a.m.
Her son was still there and police arrested him without incidents. Those who knew them said that the suspect was struggling with mental troubles.
“He wouldn’t hurt a fly if he’s on his meds,” a neighbor said. Another resident who lived next to the family’s door described the family as “quiet” while he “knew the son had some issues.”
“I feel bad, we were talking to the mom last week – they’re renovating the house,” neighbor Ray Obra said. His wife added that Sharma offered her roses recently and was a passionate gardener.
“I just feel very sad. It’s unbelievable,” she added.
