Missouri woman dies after falling off 4th-floor room at Cancun resort

A Missouri mom on vacation at a Cancun resort had fallen to her death Wednesday, police said.

The body of the unidentified woman was found by three students walking near the Now Jade Riviera Cancun Resort.

Authorities said that the victim fell from her fourth-floor room where she has been staying along with her child as part of a three-school trip.

  • “Going into the trip we were like, ‘this is going to be the best time of our lives. It’s going to be awesome,” one of the three students who discovered the body said.

    “I don’t think we ever imagined the worst things that could have happened, that we could be involved with it. We could see it. It’s really scary.”

    Ava Scaglione who also saw the dead woman added: “You could see the looks on people’s faces. It was truly heartbreaking. Again, you never know what to expect. In the snap of your fingers, something could be gone.”

    The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated though US officials have urged Americans to “exercise increased caution” in Cancun and Quintana Roo over increased criminal acts and violence.
