Texas teen, 16, found dead in burn pit near half-brother’s home two weeks after he vanished

Texas authorities said that the half-brother of a teenage boy has confessed to murdering him along with another suspect two weeks after the boy’s disappearance.

Cody Adams, 16, was reported missing on March 12 but he wasn’t found until a relative called the police and told them that he was murdered.

The tipster located Adams’ remains off County Road 3015 adding that he was buried near his half-brother Cade Cates’ rural home.

  • “Our investigators went out and did in fact find the remains of a male in a burn pit there off CR 3015,” Capt. Ken DeFoor said.

    “There were remains in the burn pit. Some remains were still intact. The body was badly decomposed as well as badly burned.”

    23-year-old Cates and Randy Norlan Salinas, 26, were arrested and charged with murder after they both confessed.

    “Some of the details at this point, we’re not at liberty to release. Other than the fact it is probably going to be drug-related,” DeFoor added.
