On Friday, Nielson released its estimates for the viewership of the second presidential debate that took place the night before.

About 63 million viewers have watched the 2020 presidential candidates arguing over several topics for 90 minutes as the determining moment profiles.

In September’s debate, they were over 73 million Americans to tune in for the first presidential face-off. Though both debates did not attract as many spectators as in 2016 when 84 million people observed the first debate and 66.5 million tuned in for the final encounter.

This year, President Trump’s COVID infection delayed the second debate for a while and forced him and rival Biden to hold simultaneous town halls event that aired on NBC News and ABC.

Nielsen gathers data and statistics from traditional TV outlets as well as mobiles and computers streaming the events.

A Friday morning poll conducted by Consult/Politico revealed that the majority of the audience believes the Democratic presidential hopeful won the debate with 54 of the surveyed percent claiming so while only 39 percent said the opposite.

Those same respondents were basically enjoyed by the candidates’ performance as nearly 70 percent preferred it over September’s.

The U.S. Election Project said that around 47 million Americans have already cast their votes by Thursday night.
