Kentucky dad opens fire at wife, three children killing toddler daughter

A 2-year-old girl was shot to death at her family house when her dad opened fire at her mother and two siblings early Tuesday morning.

David Hampton, 36, was taken into custody and charged with several counts such as murder, attempted murder, and wanton endangerment.

He had law issues in the past and was jailed several times for disturbance and intoxication.

Hampton tried to kill his wife, later identified as Christy Hampton, and their three kids.

  • Christy, a Perry County School teacher, managed to get out of the home and fled to her parents’ apartment in an attempt to spare her children’s lives. However, two of them were shot.

    They were rushed to a local hospital where Sunday Rose succumbed to her injuries. Her brother is expected to survive.

    “It’s just a terrible thing. It’s shocked the whole community,” Perry County Sheriff Joe Engle said in a statement.

    Investigators believe the shooting is premeditated. As for now, no motive has been provided.
