Two Milwaukee Police officers were critically injured after a suspect ambushed and shot them late Thursday.
Police said the officers were fired upon in an alley as they responded to a call about a person with a weapon.
A 32-year-old officer was listed in critical condition while the second, a 29-year-old officer, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The manhunt continues for the suspect; authorities urged him to turn himself in.
“It is with pronounced sorrow and outrage that we confirm that two Milwaukee police officers were tragically shot and critically injured in the line of duty tonight,” The Milwaukee Police Association said.
“Our thoughts are with these officers, their families, friends, and colleagues.”
“These officers face unimaginable suffering, and they have long roads ahead of them.”
